Wheatley Foundation support reaches more than 12,000 households
More than 12,000 tenants of Scotland’s largest social landlord received help last year thanks to a charitable Foundation.

Wheatley Foundation, part of Wheatley Group, invested £8.8 million in programmes to support tenants of Wheatley Homes across the central belt and Dumfries and Galloway, as well as customers supported by Wheatley Care.
Throughout the year the Foundation supported 7340 tenants with welfare benefits advice worth £20.07 million in previously unclaimed benefits.
It also helped more than 6000 families with fuel advice and rent support.
The Foundation was also able to be there for more than 3480 children and young people through partnerships and programmes such as Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books to children under the age of five.
Chair of Wheatley Foundation, Professor Paddy Gray OBE, said: "For almost 10 years, the Foundation has been an essential lifeline for many of our tenants facing financial hardship.
“Over the past year, we have supported tenants in accessing expert financial advice, employment support, training, and learning opportunities.
“We are particularly proud to have helped so many young people through targeted programmes designed to improve their prospects and wellbeing.”
Employment opportunities made available through the Foundation’s Wheatley Works programme also provided 1037 job training and apprenticeships.
The Home Comforts and Starter Packs programmes, which sees donated furniture and household goods upcycled and provided to tenants who need it free of charge, diverted 155 tonnes of household goods from landfill in the last year.
The Foundation works across 19 local authority areas in central and southern Scotland, supporting customers in cities and towns from Edinburgh to Glasgow and Falkirk, and smaller communities and rural areas throughout Dumfries and Galloway, West Lothian, Fife and beyond.
In 2026 Wheatley Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary. You can find out more about the services they offer and show your support on Just Giving.
