Property Assistant
Wheatley Care is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support that enables people to live fulfilling and independent lives. We are currently looking for a Property Assistant to join our Accommodation and Alcohol Support Service at Fordneuk.
Fordneuk provides accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness, with a dedicated team working closely with individuals to address challenges including substance misuse and mental health. The service focuses on creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment where people feel respected, valued, and supported.
As a Property Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across the building. You will support the day-to-day running of the service by ensuring all communal and individual areas are well-maintained, contributing directly to the wellbeing and dignity of the people we support.
What you’ll do
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the building, including flats, communal spaces, offices, and external areas;
- Carry out deep cleaning tasks, including showers, kitchens, toilets, carpets, and windows;
- Support room turnovers and prepare spaces to a high standard for new occupants;
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and stock across the service;
- Maintain laundry and waste disposal areas, ensuring they remain clean and fully stocked;
- Undertake health and safety tasks such as water temperature checks and legionella routines;
- Support with minor housekeeping duties including serving meals and cleaning dining areas;
- Accompany contractors and assist with property-related health and safety checks;
- Ensure outdoor spaces are clean, safe, and free from waste; and
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
What we’re looking for
Experience and skills
- Previous experience in a cleaning, housekeeping, or facilities role (preferred);
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively;
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness;
- Understanding of health and safety practices;
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts (early, flexi, and late);
- Positive attitude and willingness to support a busy service; and
- A food hygiene certificate is desirable.

- Strong team player with good communication skills
