Livingwell Wellbeing Day a big hit
Tenants from across Glasgow’s Livingwell services came together for a special Wellbeing Day at St Francis Church in the Gorbals recently, enjoying a day of activities, good food and the opportunity to catch up with each other.

The event included information stalls, giving tenants the chance to find out more about local services and support available to them. Organisations in attendance included SAMH, Cancer Research, Nemo Arts, the Fire Safety team from Wheatley Group and Police Scotland.
In the spirit of wellbeing, the day was all about connecting with others and creating opportunities for tenants to chat with representatives from different agencies in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Afternoon tea was also available, giving everyone a chance to sit down, enjoy some refreshments and have a blether.
More than 200 tenants in attendance, there was plenty going on throughout the day, from sit-down exercises and dance chair activities to meeting the ponies and enjoying the music at the silent disco.
The day wasn’t just made special because of the activities; the event also gave tenants the chance to reconnect with old friends and make new connections.
One tenant was over the moon to bump into a woman he had gone to school with but hadn’t seen for many years, turning the day into an unexpected reunion.
Tenants were full of praise for the event, with one group from Mair Street and Kennishead saying they had a fantastic time and couldn’t wait for the next one.
Other feedback included:
“It was a very interesting day. I loved the dance chair exercise – it was very enjoyable.”
Another tenant said:
“There was a great atmosphere, and it made me feel really uplifted. It was good to see people mingling, and it was nice to see the ponies.”
The silent disco was a particular hit, with one tenant saying they really enjoyed it, while others praised the staff for being so helpful and supportive throughout the day.
One tenant said they had a lovely time and particularly enjoyed the ponies and afternoon tea. They also commented on how nicely everything was set out and how the staff had made them feel special.
One message that came through loud and clear was that they would love to see the event return every year.
Gordon McGregor, Livingwell Manager in the west, said:
“Bringing people together and helping them build connections is so important for wellbeing.
“Days like this give tenants the opportunity to meet new people, strengthen existing relationships and feel part of their community, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.
“It was lovely to see everyone chatting, enjoying the activities and making new friends – and especially heart-warming to hear about tenants reconnecting with people they hadn’t seen in years.
“The feedback has been fantastic, and we look forward to building on this success in the future.”
Following the success of the Glasgow event, there are also plans to hold a similar Wellbeing Day in Edinburgh next year, giving even more tenants the chance to enjoy a day focused on bringing people together.
